Strengthening the role of civil society and women�s in democracy and good governance (SAMARPAN) funded by USAID/CARE, July 2002 to July 2005
The overall goal of the program was to contribute to strengthening governance at the local level through increased women’s participation and increased advocacy skills and capacity of selected civil society groups. The target groups include forestry and irrigation natural resource management groups as well as savings and credit groups and their federations and networks. The program also aims to build women�s capacity to run the local government effectively and therefore the target groups had nominated and elected female representatives. It was implemented in 12 districts namely Chitwa , Nawalparasi, Kapilbstu, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, Surkhet, Salyan, Rukum, Rolpa, and Puthan. In this project the main responsibility of Samjhauta Nepal was development and Publication of post literacy advocacy materials for the target groups and train them.
