Stronger Voices: Improving Quality of Care for Sexual and Reproductive Health Care funded by UNFPA, September 2005 to December 2007

The project was implemented in 15 VDCs of Saptari district with the goal to contribute in improving the reproductive health of couples and individuals in partnership with 5 local NGOs. The program has supplemented and complemented the strategies of government of Nepal and other donors working on SRH issues. More than 2500 women as direct target audience of the program has contributed in ensuring equity in the project area through community advocacy and social campaign. Overall achievement of the program can be summarized as:

  • Improved quality of care on SRH issues
  • Breaking some of the social barriers on SRH issues
  • Creating knowledge of and a high demand for quality SRH services among vulnerable, poor and marginalized groups
  • Establishment of 15 Women Information Centers to advocate for women SRH issues
  • Capacity building of various stakeholders from government as well as non governmental sectors
