Empowering Youth through Life skills and SRH Education funded by EU/UNFPA, RHIYA Nepal, September 2003 to August 2006
Samjhauta Nepal, a national NGO, implemented the project “Empowering Youth through Life Skills and Sexual Reproductive Health Education” through six local implementing partners NGOs in 22 VDCs of Bara, Mahottari and Dhanusha districts. It aimed to empower adolescents and youths (AYs), an identified under – served and vulnerable population in Bara, Mahottari and Dhanusha districts with life skills and appropriate information and education on sexual reproductive health and reproductive right issues, gender based violence and girls trafficking. RHIYA programme has identified four outputs and they are: 1. Increased political, community and family support for adolescent and youth SRH intervention (life skill, HIV/AIDs, GBV, GT) 2.Enhanced knowledge and improved assertiveness on SRH (life skill, HIV/AIDs, GBV, GT) among youth and adolescents 3. Improved access to quality youth oriented SRH services 4. Enhanced technical, planning and managerial capacity among government health officials and local NGOs/CBOs in the provision of AYSRH information and services.
There are 22 youth information centers and 6 youth friendly service delivery points established in the project area and they are providing SRH services to the community people especially the AYs.
